On the anniversary of our engagement I was surprised with a ring of my very own.
A few months back we looked around for our wedding bands, at the time it was just another thing to cross off the list. I am by no means a man of sparkle and fancy so I was never that excited to pick out a piece of mannery. However, our first visit to the jeweler was promising and I saw a ring I liked, maybe enough to wear for the rest of forever. It was just out of our price range so we didn't get it right there and then.
Over the next month or two we stopped in a few times to look at it, retry it on and make sure that it was worth its weight in itself, but we never walked out with it. It was still a struggle to for me to spend money to bejewel my hand. More time passed and then it was May. On the anniversary of our engagement Erica surprised me and took me to the jeweler to get the ring. She wanted to have it all ready as a surprise to give to me but they needed to size me up one last time. The guy said it would take up to six weeks to get it in the store. Each ring is forged to order in the Mt. Doom of Switzerland. Most importantly if I bang it up in the first two years the Swiss will refinish it for free and if my fingers plump their trolls will reforge it.
