Beautiful Paper

We just got our invites in the mail! It's exciting to see something we made printed out finally- though looking back we could have printed it all on regular paper and cut it to size to get the effect, but.. well we didn't! - so this was our first look at the real deal. It feels good to know we made them, and they are personal and all that, BUT I've seen some really beautiful invites out there and I can't help but admire their creativity and beauty (of course ours have homemade charm right? Let's go with charm). Here are a few that caught my eye.

I spotted these on Ice Cream Social, I love this save the date idea! I am a sucker for 3D elements on invites. And for birds. I also may be partial to beautiful uses of grey, since it's one of our colors. Home run if I was really into the deranged SF pigeons so I could also say it has a personal element. Ah well.

One more also from Ice Cream Social. The clothe pocket idea makes me want to run out and steal... err buy a sewing machine just so I can do this for ours!

Chewing the Cud has been in my favorite links tab for a while. Their letterpress invites so freak'n nice and this save the date - so cute. If I had a gocco and had stolen that sewing machine, I'd have sent something like this out to you. Who doesn't love a nice kitchen towel?

When I saw these I thought - modern PA dutch! Seriously! Not sure if that was what she was going for, but that's all I could think of when I saw this set by Rifle. They have that put-together homemade feel I love for casual weddings like ours.

This next designer makes beautiful and modern invites and has a blog that I love to follow. Mint designs may not have a lot to share just yet, but each new design is better than the last. This set has another thing I love, deckled edges! Ahhh, deckled edges.

I had remembered seeing these invites, and couldn't believe when I found them again that this couple had DIYed everything! Amazing. See what you can do with a little hutzpah (if I only knew the Presbyterian translation). The school theme would have been perfect for us!

Why not go all out with invitations like these, from 13 Creative?? We looked into getting married in Napa, but since we didn't also win the lottery, we decided to go with good ol' PA. Could have stuck a nice PA wine in there though. *snobby CA snicker*

There are of course so many more to talk about, but it just goes to show you there's definitely someone making something out there for you. Or you can design your own, like us, and have them printed! It feels good to do it yourself, it really does, but you might find your self spending a few night doing things like this:

You've been warned!
