Deciding what song I want to walk down the isle to was easy. When Chris played it, I teared up and said "that's the one!", a definite bride moment. But deciding who or what will be playing our ceremony music has been difficult. The Chapel has an organ, a piano, the college has a string quartet, and there is a sound technician, who will be there anyway to mic the minister an such. I wanted to have a mic (I never hear the couple saying their vows - only the minister), but I've been told mics and wedding gowns do not mix. Anyway, it's obvious live music will sound nice in a big stone church, but we're contemporary music types, and a few songs we really want requires an entire band, with bagpipes and a pianist. So by band I mean orchestra.
Given that, it made sense to use our trusty ipod, much to my mother and other's chagrin I believe and understandably so. Our last trip home we gave the chapel's sound system a go. Meh, not great, but when I heard our recessional song playing it was our wedding day, even if you couldn't hear the bass drums. It's nonsensical to sacrifice all the music for one song though. This calls for a combo and finding a musician. Specifically, a pianist.

Not all the pictures have to be romantic do they? source
Adrian Brody, would you like to be our pianist .. wait can you actually play? I contacted my parent's church about finding a pianist and finally made the call today, and booked her! I am so pleased how affordable pianists in PA are, since we only a have a few songs for her to play. I even had great luck finding the sheet music the songs we liked, one song is my procession song, and passed those to our Pianist who approved! Check check check!! and one fine compromise!
