It has been years since I've lived in our hometown and the pastor and even assistant pastor had changed since the time that I regularly attended our church there, so I really wasn't sure who we would have marry us back home. We didn't really want to chose at random, because who knows what we could expect doing that - we've seen some ceremonies go a bit awry. So we turned to my parents for their opinion. I had met the new pastor and assistant pastor at my old church, but I didn't know them. So my folks talked to us about their preaching styles and sermons, how they differed and their experiences with the pastors. Then Christmas Eve we attended the candle light service and briefly heard both pastors. I kept poking CK and asking him what he thought about each one!
While we decided we'd be happy with either pastor, they both seem great, we decided to give Pastor Bill Hoffman a call and he graciously met with us in between our many appointments the Friday before our flight home. We liked how animated (but not crazy animated) he was and we really thought Pastor Bill had a captivating way about him that was sure to keep you all awake during our ceremony. We also expressed interested in the premarital counseling some pastors offer. We're not looking for a session with a therapist, it just sounded.. fun! He suggested we try to find someone in SF to do this with us, but if we can't, he is more than happy to work something out for us so we can have the premarital counseling experience we're hankering for. We already started to cook up some ideas for the ceremony during our meeting - matrimony here we come!
