Cheers!

The big day is getting closer and now that a few of the major decisions have been made we have begun to work on some of the fun details.

This past weekend we picked up a few bottles of Champagne from K&L Wines downtown . The week before I emailed them asking for recommendations on a few Champagnes and sparkling wines in our budget. A few days later they emailed back with three suggestions that they thought would please a range of taste buds. So, Sunday night we made a nice creamy crab mac and cheese, popped our bottles and tasted.

Though all three were very good suggestions we eliminated one pretty quickly, the Bruno Michel Blache Brut. It was good, but tasted a little too toasted, more acidic than we were looking for and the bubbles were too overwhelming.

We had a hard time deciding between the other two. Both the Baron Fuente Grand Brut Reserve and Franck Bonville Blanc de Blancs hit the mark. They both had more delicate bubbles and more balanced acidity. Both were fresh, crisp and refreshing enough to drink all night long. So far we favor ... the Baron Fuente. We are having a second round of champagne and sparkling wines, then moving on to ciders, and finally reds. Thanks K&L!
