Round two. More bubbles recommended by K&L! This time we made some really great crabcakes and a corn & jalapeno side dish. I was skeptical about the jalapenos, but they were mild and yum. Anyway bring on the bubbles!
From right to left: Jean-Louis Denois Brut "traditional", Tressier Cremant de Loire, Jean Philippe & Francios Becker Cremant D'Alsace, and Kalinda Riesling Sekt dry. We had a fifth but then discovered they didn't have enough cases if we actually had wanted it. Sigh. We popped open the fave from last time too to make this a continuation of our last bubble-fest.
Chris' first choice and mine did not match up, of course! He really liked the riesling, and I was in favor of the cremant from Tessier, his second choice. So after the crabcakes we broke out some cheeses we're considering having at the reception.
We decided, while the riesling was good, it was on the sweet side and chances are more taste buds would enjoy the cremant, since we both liked that even though it wasn't CK's top contender. So I think we have it! Thank goodness, we have so much wine opened at home! I guess we'll start having mimosas for breakfast : ) Chris suggested I bring them to work, but can you see me on my bike with multiple bottles of opened champagne in my backpack? Me thinks not.
We have a handful of reds ready to be popped, so tomorrow we are taking them to CK's aunt's house to share them over dinner .. and maybe leave some behind!
