Tomorrow we leave Honolulu for the more tranquil and hopefully greener Kauai. So far we've been munching on mochi cream - an amazing Japanese dessert with rice flour made from Mochi, followed by .. well my best guess is flavored mochi, and then in the middle its yummy cream! It's gummy, creamy, cold, delish. Some flavors are not so hot, like chocolate banana, but others are simply scrumptious, like apple pie. Must find in San Fran.
We've also eaten other yummy things, like a 6 course meal at Chef Margo, and grilled our own food at Gyu Kaku. The grill sits in the center of the table and was about two feet from my face, which means it felt like it was burning up half the time. Other than that it was a great experience. We've also discovered a nice tropical drink called lava flow. I highly recommend it. It's basically a pina colada with strawberry and banana mixed in. Yum.
What else!? The ocean is great! The sand is incredibly fine so I never have grainy sand stuck in my mouth when a wave takes me out. AND I touched a live wild sea turtle. Looking back it was a wow experience, but at the time I might have freaked out and appeared to have been shark attacked. I was heading out to sea, side stroking along, and all the sudden my hand hits and slides along something moving fast. At first I thought, is this a person? No. It was a giant sea turtle zooming along, and it crossed our path several times after, but not nearly as close, so I did get confirmation on the turtle touching!
Overall a huge thumbs up to the beach, but a slight thumbs down on one thing - the huge rocks sprinkled throughout the water with the rare razor sharp something on top (please note the band-aid on my big toe above). We're searching for some water shoes, and becoming experts at treading water!
Alright! Enough blogging! We ARE on our honeymoon of course! I can't wait to share our wedding photos with you! Exclamation points will be plentiful.
