Honeymoon: French Laundry

If you haven't heard of The French Laundry, well let me introduce you! As I said before we'd LOVE to end our honeymoon with a trip to The French Laundry, the world's #12 restaurant in 2009, and #1 in 2004. It's so close to SF, just a short drive up to the wine country and you are there. It's supposed to be a truly amazing several hour long dinner experience with food like this little morsel. (All the photos are by Christian Hass)

Sometimes you see a small portion like that and think, ugh, fancy food is always small and that certainly does not look filling. Well we have been fortunate to go to a few meals like this and I can tell you we were busting at the seams afterwards. And it's kind of nice knowing you get a little taste of all sorts of different mini meals. Here is a delicious looking desert for you..

I could bother to read what that is, but it doesn't matter, I want to eat it up. So why talk so much about the French Laundry? Why not make our reservation and call it a day?? Well the problem is getting in! I know folks who have tried, tried and failed. There are only 15 tables to go around. We know they only take reservations 2 months in advance, which means 2 months from our last honeymoon day is going to be very stressful for us. I suggested enlisting all our friends to call in that morning for us - really it's that hard to get a table! Even for a Thursday night!! Christian Haas lists some tips on his website no salad as a meal for making a reservation, but we're not getting our hopes up too high. So wish us luck! And if you know Thomas Keller, put in a good word for us! (PS! For anyone thinking we must be rich for a meal like this, you are so silly. It's a very generous wedding gift!)
