When it came time for the gender reveal, our friends made an amazingly cute video capturing their sonography. Their family gathered in the ultrasound room and the camera swept from baby mama and her belly to the TV screen and onlookers. All of their anticipation and reactions to discovering they were having another girl were caught on vide. Not to mention they were finding out the gender weeks earlier by scheduling a non-medical ultrasound, than they would if they'd waited for the 20 week doctor's appointment.
(our friend's gender reveal)
Smitten by cinema magic, at 16 weeks Chris and I made the trek to what looked like an adorable little west coast ultrasound facility where we would capture our very own baby's gender reveal. We however went alone, since our families live on the opposite coast and as it turned out sonography room was hideous and dark. So our gender reveal turned out 100% less cinematic, but finding out the gender of our baby was an exciting event nonetheless.
As the ultrasound tech said - it's a good thing we wanted to know the gender of our baby the first thing we saw was a very obvious little penis! It happened so fast I feel like I had barely settled into the chair before he appeared, showing the world what he was made of. Our baby could finally be called "he" and we could focus our stressful name conversations on boy's names. It was very exciting.
(16.5 weeks. Not a penis shot. You'll have to take my word for it.)
I'm certain the camera we brought didn't come on at, but we did leave with a handful of baby photos and a video of the ultrasound to boot. To celebrate, we went shopping and came home with our first baby onesie! It was so tiny and once I hung it on our jeans rack, it really brought the baby's presence into the room.
