Oh the first dance. We've all seen the youtube videos where the bride and groom and sometimes their bridal party break out choreography that makes you say - I wanna do that at my wedding! Well Chris and I attempted. We took a few dance lessons and learned the two-step to My Lady's House by Iron & Wine.

Let's just say it went ok. We tried! Even though it makes us blush, I'll share the video incase you are interested in our two-step attempt. About halfway through the dance we switched to 8th grade classic slow dancing! It will be one of those moments we never forget for so many reasons and photographed moments were beautiful!

It's harder than I expected to get up in front of everyone and dance! Besides being nervous in the first place, the two-step wasn't very 'us'! We started the dance lessons late, when Chris nerves hit, so we didn't really have time to mess around trying out different dances. So for anyone considering choreographed slow dances, I'd say go for it, but make sure the dance moves fit you so they feel more natural and start them early so you can try out several options!
As for the father daughter dance - don't skip it. Even if you and your dad don't want the spot light together, maybe just pick a song that the two of you will dance to when it plays. It's a special moment not to miss. I picked Father and Daughter by Paul Simon for the father daughter dance. It was a bit fast paced, but we made do!
Chris and his mom also took the dance floor and danced to Upward Over the Mountainby Iron & Wine.

After the mother-son dance, we invited all the couples to join us on the dance floor. It was our secret ploy to get them up before the dance music started and it worked!

Up next: We hit the dance floor and you'll see, even more so, why lights can make a huge impact on your photographs! Then off to the honeymoon!
