Sunday Searching

We started our Sunday trip to the wine country with a stop a the Costeaux Bakery . If you know me, you know I love wedding cakes and the potential they have to both beautiful and tastey. The Bakery had some really delicous pastries in thier display case when we entered, always a good sign right? Here's what they gave us for our tasting (clockwise): Devil foods cake with chocolate truffle icing, white chiffon cake with bavarian cream and swiss meringue, poppy seed cake with cream cheese and raspberry preserves, vanilla cake with whipped cream and strawberries.

So we tasted...

and we wrote down the flavors and our thoughts...

and we were only a fan of the bavarian cream. It was really good. But the other flavors, in our humble opinion, were just no so good. And we want you to have good cake! I can sum it up by saying the cream cheese icing, reminded us of cheese-wiz. Seriously. I feel bad saying so! Nonetheless the Bavarian was quite yummy and we thank them for the tasting.  I think we were spoiled by Wendy Kromer.

Then we drove on to two destinations around the Russian River area. First a vacation home that has just started to rent out for wedding affairs. We found his house on a regular vacation home site (along with others who rejected the thought of having a wedding at thier vacation home).

Mary Ellen, the woman on the left, is a wedding coordinater in the area. She's really great, and could set us up with a whole package deal if we wanted.

Can you see the river way off in the distance? The property was nice, but not what we were looking for, and we really were looking to be blown away with it's price tag. And franky the yard was a little treacherous for folks like my dear grandma.

On ward! Our next appointment was at the Domenichelli Farmhouse. The owners are great people, really nice and friendly. The house is really charming, with two associated properties in the same town to house some of our family and friends.

It even has a cute church next door. It was beatiful inside and out. But the more we thought about it, the more we felt like our location should be more meaningful than a random B&B, that wasn't actually in the wine country - we tried but having it in the actual wine country is about twice our budget. So our eyes are falling back on PA. AAhh, the back and forth! Italy is looking better everyday. No we love all our friends and family, we couldn't do that!

Also the absolute latest, I tried on more dresses today, and have another appointment tomorrow :) things are looking good in the dress department, thanks to some intense online lookng! Here's a look into my dressing room.
